Santiago, Chile to Mendoza, Argentina by bus – Los Libertadores Pass

If there was ever a reason to choose a 7-10 hour bus ride over a one hour flight…the photos might help show why we think the bus is totally worth it. This by far has been one of the most beautiful and memorable bus rides we’ve been on!

We think that we were pretty lucky to get the front seats on the 2nd level of the bus. We had a panoramic window across the front that allowed us to take in the breathtaking scenery crossing the Andes. One thing I should mention, for people that get motion sick this might not be the best place to sit on the bus. There are around 29 hairpin turns on the Chilean side before you reach the border of Argentina.

We crossed over to Argentina in the middle of the 3080 meter long Cristo Redentor Tunnel.

We came out the other side to some incredible multicoloured mountains!

Just after passing through the Argentina border control are the ruins of Puente del Inca.

One of the popular tours from Mendoza takes you to see the ruins shown above and all the way to the Chilean border just to view the scenery…this is another good reason to take the bus and save on a tour!
