Our friends in Hua Hin, Voom and Greg, and their cute dog Omi, invited us on a little road trip to Suan Phueng in the western part of Ratchaburi province. This area has many “themed” resorts around the mountainous countryside and apparently it’s a very popular area for the locals from Bangkok. Most of the things to do here are centered around the outdoors and enjoying the natural beauty of the area which we certainly did.
Driving in Thailand is definitely stressful for us westerners and luckily our friend Greg rented the car and did all the driving – a big thank you to him for that because I personally would have had several anxiety attacks with the road shenanigans that go on over here!
We stayed in little chalet’s at a small and very peaceful resort that is owned by a long time friend of Voom’s. All the Chalet’s at the resort had murals painted on them.
We relaxed at the resort and later took a drive around the countryside, it’s a really beautiful area near the Myanmar border. In the evening we enjoyed a fantastic BBQ that Voom prepared for all of us. We had fish that was very similar to red snapper, sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, and of course beer to go with it
After breakfast the next morning, we drove out to Kao Chan waterfall and walked the trails in the park. The rock formations in this area are beautiful and we really enjoyed the hike. It was drier than we had all expected and I later read that a number of provinces in Thailand are facing some serious drought conditions this year.
Voom spotted this huge frog hiding in the trees.
We had a fun time in this area of Thailand and enjoyed relaxing with friends.
What a gorgeous country side and the colours are awesome and of course the four of you are great looking
Thank you! It’s very pretty in that area, glad we were able to see it ?
Very beautiful! It must be amazing when the monsoon waters are rushing through those same stream beds!
Yes it would be great in the rainy season!
