We traveled from Guilin to Yangshuo on the Li River and we couldn’t think of a better way to get to Yangshuo. The day before it was pouring rain and lucky for us the weather changed and cleared up. We thoroughly enjoyed the scenery on this cruise.
As soon as we reached this point on the river called ‘the nine horses’ (you can see them on the face of the cliff – kind of), majority of the Chinese passengers crowded onto the outside decks to have their photos taken with the cliff face of the nine horses in the background – I didn’t really understand what all the fuss was about but it must have been really significant to them. As soon as we were past this point, they all went back inside and most of them slept!
They did serve lunch on board but we opted out and decided we would wait and eat in Yangshuo. We saw other boats pumping river water into their kitchens and we were not sure if our boat did the same thing and we didn’t really want to find out. Luckily we had a few small snacky things with us to tide us over – Gordon had bought a bag of lychee fruit the night before.
We really enjoyed the Li River and we’re so glad we didn’t miss this scenic day cruise. We arrived in Yangshuo at 1:30pm just in time to enjoy a late lunch.

Very beautiful so much better then a bus or train or plane. Gorgeous pictures
Thank you, yes the scenery was fantastic! One of the areas that we have wanted to see for a long time 🙂
The scenery is really beautiful and lovely. The whitish surface of the nine horses mountain did look like horses from afar. That is gorgeous…you guys must be very lucky to have such a sunny trip without rain…Bravo….
Thank you, yes the scenery was spectacular! We count ourselves very lucky that the weather cleared up because the day before it was very rainy 🙂
